Trieste

Trieste is a bridge between the West  and Central Europe, Mediterranean mix characters and Central Europe. These are found especially in the severe lines of buildings and the wide boulevards and squares. It is a major hub for rail and sea. Its port, located in the heart of the European continent, was the main maritime outlet of the Hapsburg Empire. Today it is a hub for international trade flows between the land-sea markets in Central and Eastern Europe and Asia.

Trieste was the seat, since 1877, a reputed School of Commerce. In 1924 the city was endowed university, which in the decades since acquired considerable prestige and home to many international scientific organizations for some time and the main Italian science park. It is known as the Trieste City of Science and the scientific community and is home to a well known and renowned university abroad each year attracts thousands of students from all over the world and all cultures.

To visit the Castle of Miramare, overlooking the Gulf of Trieste, just a few kilometers north of the city, the Grotta Gigante is the Carso area, which is the plateau behind Trieste.
